JOHN JORGENSON

John Jorgenson is a musical chameleon whose virtuosity allows him to move between styles with ease and panache. John is a founding member of the Desert Rose Band, the Hellecasters, and six-year member of Elton John's band. Artists ranging from Barbra Streisand to Bonnie Raitt to Earl Scruggs have sought out Jorgenson's guitar work.  Recently, he was chosen to portray Django Reinhardt in the feature film Head in the Clouds.

Although perhaps better known in the pop, country and rock world, gypsy jazz is the style of music closest to John’s heart. During the 06-07 season John will be the featured artist on two NCO commissioned premieres at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center on June 22, 2007. Learn more about that performance.

DARRELL SCOTT

Darrell Scott is a powerful musical spirit. As a Grammy-nominated artist, award-winning songwriter, and a first-call session musician, Darrell occupies his own unique half-acre in this city’s crowded musical landscape and stands out as a refreshingly mischievous artist.

For the NCO’s Acoustic Café Series, he worked closely with Music Director Paul Gambill to choose guest artists and help shape the programs. He premiered his new song-cycle, This Begger’s Heart, at the November, 2006, Acoustic Café performance, and will be joining other artists throughout the series. Learn more about the Acoustic Café series.
