The NCO Gospel Choir debuted in 1995 for a program that featured traditional gospel works and the premiere of J. Mark Scearce’s This Thread. Since then the choir has performed annually at the NCO’s Thanksgiving Celebration concerts.
Comprised of singers from all walks of life and all parts of our community, the NCO Gospel Choir celebrates the Thanksgiving Celebration’s theme of building community and embracing unity.
Membership is open to all who have music reading skills and a love of singing. The choir, which is managed by Odessa Settles, begins rehearsing every Tuesday night approximately six weeks before the Thanksgiving Celebration program at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. That program is presented on Friday and Saturday night of Thanksgiving weekend.
